Amazing future for VPS & Augmented Reality

Google announced a number of stunning pieces of future development work at their recent Google I/O event. This developer festival brings together coders from around the globe. They discuss, have hands-on learning sessions and have first look at Google’s latest developer products. Gooii Nottingham loves this event because these technologies are used in our app, web and VR/AR development projects. One of the most interesting was their VPS (Visual Positioning System).

The VPS uses your phone’s camera and Google’s extensive back-end data to analyze your surroundings. It then identifies where you are and where you are looking with greater accuracy. It also overlays Augmented Reality technology to provide additional information, not just navigation directions. Another advantage of VPS is for those of us who have experienced loss of GPS in densely populated areas. By using VPS, Google Maps can still recognise your location and direction of view.
