Nottingham Hospitals Use Locally Sourced Ingredients

Catering managers at both the Nottingham City Hospital and Nottingham’s QMC are using fresh seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in their kitchens. The move sees them saving over £6m a year and has benefited local producers in the East Midlands.

“Ninety per cent of the fresh food the hospitals use comes from the East Midlands and it is the only trust to receive a Soil Association award for its work from Prince Charles.”

Is Your Keyboard A Health Risk?

Office workers who eat at their desks can attract mice who leave droppings in keyboards as they scavenge for crumbs. The Royal Society of Chemistry warn that mice droppings can be a serious health risk to humans. They also found very high levels of harmful bacteria and warned users face the risk of contracting stomach bugs dubbed “qwerty tummy”.

They are encouraging employers to implement a clean workstation policy. The search for Britain’s dirtiest keyboard is now underway. They are asking for office workers to send in photographs of their filthy keyboards – the winner will receive £300.

Being a web design business we have a few keyboards in the office, am hoping we won’t need to be searching Yell.com any time soon for “vermin control” “Nottingham”.

Wearable Tech for the Ski Slopes

These fabulous ski goggles are due to go on sale this autumn at a cost of $400 or $500 USD. They offer superior protection from UV rays. But best of all they have a colour integrated GPS LCD screen mounted in the goggle, which provides the user with real-time performance enhancing data to location, speed, altitude and temperature. There is also a stopwatch and a vertical odometer built into the interface. If you are skiing/boarding with others who are wearing the goggles you can track their location too.

Find out more about these goggles at Zeal Optics

We’re all hoping for lots of snow in Nottingham this year so we can test them ourselves.
